At Engineered Smiles, we make every decision to protect the health and safety of our patients. With the outbreak of COVID-19, Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp officially declared a public health emergency for the state of Georgia. With the recommendation of the American Dental Association (ADA), all dental practices have been encouraged to take measures to diminish the spread of the Coronavirus by reducing their practice operations to procedures that the ADA has categorized as “emergency” or “essential”. Dental emergencies pertain to the health and safety of your life and your teeth. An essential procedure is one that cannot be postponed for 30 days.
Because of these guidelines, our practice is currently closed, but we are still seeing patients with acute dental emergencies. If you fall into this category, please call us at 678-801-6700 and press option 1 when prompted. We will follow up with you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, it is essential that you practice proper dental hygiene habits at home. Follow these 3 simple steps to keep your smile healthy and bright:
1. Floss your teeth every day. Flossing is the most underutilized dental at-home procedure, yet it is the most important. Dental floss is the only tool able to scrape damaging plaque away from the gum line and out from between the teeth. If you are not flossing, your teeth are continually being attacked by harmful plaque.
2. Brush your teeth often. You may be good at brushing your teeth in the morning and before bed, but without access to regular dental appointments, you should brush your teeth more often. We encourage you to brush after every meal or snack in order to keep your teeth clean.
3. Make healthy food and beverage choices. “You are what you eat.” This saying means that if you make healthy food and beverage choices that your entire body will be healthy; if you make unhealthy choices, your whole body will suffer. This applies to your teeth, too! Foods and beverages high in sugar, acid, or alcohol will damage the teeth over time. Limiting these choices will prolong the health of your smile.
Engineered Smiles is your partner in oral health. Even during this unprecedented time, we are here for you. Please do your part to care for your smile, and don’t forget to wash your hands!
